The Edward J. Blakely Center for Sustainable Suburban Development is pleased
to announce the Randall Lewis Seminar Series, a monthly program of lectures and community
discussions on the emerging issues of Inland Southern California.
The series, held on the Third Thursdays from January through June and September through November, will cover such topics
as transportation, land use, infrastructure financing, culture in the suburbs, demographic changes and her implications,
community building, air quality, water and a broad range of other possible issues. You can see individual topics and link
to summaries in the left column. Topic suggestions can be made to Rick Burnham, the Centers
Assistant Director, at
rick.burnham@ucr.edu.
The Seminar Series has been made possible through the generous sponsorship of Randall Lewis, Executive Vice President of
the Lewis Group of Companies.
After the experts talk, the floor is opened to questions and comments from members of the audience. A reception with wine,
refreshments and an opportunity to mingle with the speakers follows. The programs run from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Seminars will be hosted in venues around Inland Southern California. A lively audience of elected officials, business people,
city and county staff, environmentalists, members of community groups and those who simply want to explore topics which
will affect the future of their communities have been attending. The seminars are free of charge.
If you would like more information or plan to attend, please RSVP to
shayna.conaway@ucr.edu or (951) 827-7830 to ensure
adequate space and refreshments.
Please invite any friends or colleagues you think might be interested.
The increasing interest in the suburbs and their development has led to an active calendar of conferences, public meetings
and seminars. If you are aware of any events that should be listed here, please contact
